Assistance

The House Staff is available to assist patrons with disabilities. Disability Access accommodations at the Citizens Opera House include wheelchair seating, infrared assisted listening, Braille programs and large print programs.



Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair accessible (and companion) seats for Broadway In Boston shows are available through the Box Office or online via Ticketmaster (accessible seats are indicated with a wheelchair icon).

Wheelchair accessible (and companion) seats for Boston Ballet shows please call (617) 695–6955.

Accessible bathrooms are available by elevator access in the Lower Lobby and the Mezzanine Lobby.



Hard of Hearing

The theatre is equipped with an infrared sound enhancement system. Headsets are available at no extra charge in the main lobby. ASL and Open-Captioned performances are scheduled for most Broadway productions.

The Citizens Opera House offers three options for assisted listening device rentals which are compatible with our portable receiver. All options are located at coat check, free of charge with a valid ID.

Portable Display RF Receiver (216 MHz)

Neck Loop

Product Overview

The LA-166 Neck Loop from Listen Technologies provides a reliable and effective way for listeners with telecoil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants to utilize your assistive listening system. Each neck loop slips comfortably over the wearer’s neck and transmits the audio signal wirelessly to their t-coil device, leaving their hands free for added convenience.

  • Works with any of Listen Technologies’ receivers for an integrated listening solution

Low Vision

Seating for patrons with low vision is available online at Ticketmaster.com for all theatrical events or by visiting the Citizens Opera House Box Office.



American Sign Language Interpreted Performances

During ASL Interpreted performances, qualified Interpreters convey the story, dialogue and other elements to patrons who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. ASL section seats are available in the orchestra, permitting patrons to see both the stage and the Interpreters simultaneously.

For all non-theatrical and non-ballet performances, Patrons requiring interpreting services for concerts or events should contact the Citizens Opera House at info@citizensbankoperahouse.com with the language of ASL Request in the subject of the email. Requests by ticket patrons are required at minimum 2 weeks prior to the show date.

Open Captioned Performances

During Open Captioned Performances, an electronic text display is placed to the side of the stage which shows what the performers are saying and singing while also describing any sound effects on stage for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patrons.
